An exclusive basement private dining room in the heart of Soho, accommodating 8-16 guests. Perfect for birthdays or group celebrations of any kind, Shackfuyu’s private dining space provides a comfortable, intimate space in which to enjoy some of London’s most popular Japanese dishes.

The private dining room, in keeping with the palette of the main restaurant, combines dark grey walls, dark blue leather upholstered chairs and low hanging industrial light fittings. The large wooden table is a focal point, designed for the easy sharing of Shackfuyu dishes and for comfortable group socialising. Guests can select one of two set menus, designed to showcase a selection of Shackfuyu’s most popular dishes. Shack classics including sweet, spicy Korean fried wings and the ever-popular aubergine with 4 miso and bubu arare feature on the £35 per person set menu. Other favourites from the a la carte menu, such as prawn toast masquerading as okonomiyaki and iberico pork pluma, can be found on the £40 per person set menu. The private dining room must be booked in advance for a minimum of 8 guests, with a minimum food spend of £35 per person plus drinks

Booking Enquiries

Can we come in just for drinks?

Unfortunately not. Our premises licence forbids the sale of alcohol without a table meal.

Can we decorate the Private Dining Room?

We’re pretty flexible, but whatever artistic direction you choose, it would need to somewhat fit in with the vibe of the restaurant!

Can we have a quiet table?

At Shackfuyu, we like to play old-school rock music, so if you’re after a quiet night out, you may find that we’re not quite the place for you. If it’s just a slightly more intimate space you’d like, give us a call and we’ll try and work something out.

Can we have drinks before / after dinner at the bar?

Our bar isn’t massive and it serves as a dining counter as well, so there isn’t a lot of space to hang out and drink. Our leaner ledge alongside the bar can serve as a small standing area if you’d like to join us before your booked time or are finishing off with a round of drinks.

Can we reserve a booth?

For a large group this is possible. Please call or email us to arrange.

We don’t have a booking. Do you take walk-ins?

Absolutely – we always keep some tables un-booked to be able to accommodate walk-ins. There may be a wait involved, but we’ll always try to get you seated.

What’s your maximum party size?

In our booths, it’s 6. On our high sharing table, we can accommodate more, and our Private Dining Room can accommodate up to 16. Give us a call or drop us a line to discuss.

Food & Drinks

Are you able to cater to coeliacs?

To an extent. We have a range of wheat-free dishes on the menu and can substitute the ramen noodles (see above). But we do use soy sauce rather liberally, which contains wheat in small quantities – so the suitable menu options depend on the degree of gluten intolerance. Give us a call, drop us a line or ask our team when you come in. They’ll be able to recommend something suitable.

Do we all have to have the brunch menu?

Yes – the whole table would need to choose from the same menu, so as to keep things manageable for our kitchen team.

Do you add MSG to any of your food?

No, we absolutely don’t, and none of our ingredients contain it.

Do you do a special birthday dessert or cake?

Yes, we can make a birthday cake to order for you. Please get in touch if you’d like to arrange this. If it’s your own cake you’d like to bring in, there is a £15 ‘cakeage’ charge for the table.

Do you do take away or delivery?

Unfortunately not: our premises licence prevents us from offering any food or drinks to take away, including doggy bags.

I’m a vegetarian/vegan. Is there something on the menu I can eat?

There are a few vegetarian options on the menu, some of which may be adjusted to be suitable for vegans. We’re always working on adjusting and enhancing our menu, so dishes may change over time. Give us a call, drop us a line or ask our team when you come in. They’ll be able to recommend something suitable.

Is your meat halal?

Yes, our chicken is, when it is not deep-fried.

When are last orders/when does the kitchen close?

As per the timings on our website – when the doors close, last orders are taken, and the kitchen closes.

Do you have a baby changing facility?

We have dedicated facilities at Flesh & Buns, and via Whole Foods in our Kensington branch.

Do you have a cloakroom?

We don’t have a dedicated cloakroom, but there are hooks for coats.

Do you have wheelchair access?

Unfortunately not. There’s a step leading up into the dining room, and there are stairs leading down to the toilets.

How do credit or debit card tips get distributed?

All tips are distributed amongst our waiting, bar and kitchen staff, following any tax related deductions.
